Culinary Medicine is a new method of translating the findings of nutritional medicine into the living environments of patients and clients and thus optimising the success of the counselling process. Culinary Medicine combines nutritional medicine, nutritional science, dietetics and psychology with practical culinary skills. The teaching format is an indication-based cooking course with 7 x 4 teaching units based on the evidence-based guideline "Nutrition Therapy in Clinic and Practice (LEKuP, Hauner et al. 2019)".

Culinary Medicine Germany e.V. (CMG) in cooperation with the Institute for Nutrition and Psychology at the Georg-August-University of Göttingen University Medical Center was formally accepted into the Teaching Kitchen Collaborative (TKC), a leading invitational network of educational, research, and community organizations with teaching kitchens to be used to enhance personal and public health Effective January 1, 2022, Culinary Medicine Germany e.V. did join organizations including Cleveland Clinic, UCLA, Northwestern University, Google Inc, the Palo Alto Medical Foundation, Stanford University, Kaiser Permanente, the Barilla Center for Food & Nutrition-Foundation (BCFN) and others leading the teaching kitchen movement to improve health outcomes in the US and around the world.

Thomas Ellrott, Germany's oldest nutrition expert. In 2007 he took over as director of the Institute for Nutrition & Psychology at the Georg-August-University Göttingen Medical Center. His research focuses on the prevention and therapy of obesity and the study of eating and consumer behaviour in Germany. He is head of the DGE Section Lower Saxony. (vormals CookUOS e.V. ) wird seit Dezember 2019 von der Rut- und Klaus-Bahlsen-Stiftung (Hannover) gefördert. Nach der Evaluation werden alle Lehrmaterialien als Open Access veröffentlicht.
