9 days, 150m2 stand, 20 employees, 63 DIY cooking workshops with 1,512 participants, 45 times front cooking with 762 guests, 42 times sustainability quiz with 816 participants, 1,640 normal stand visitors, the Barilla chef and a real 3-star chef as guest on the stand! For the third time, the concept Kitchen-Cooking-Competence! by CookUOS together with the Institute for Nutrition and Psychology was able to inspire Generation Z at the IdeenExpo 2019 in Hanover. This year's trade fair appearance was supported by the Rut-und-Klaus-Bahlsen Foundation and Barilla Germany.
The concept was quite simple: do-it-yourself (DIY)/participation -> fun and enjoyment -> science and technology -> sustainability and health (medicine).
Under the title
"DIY - Just cook!"
the Institute for Nutrition and Psychology and CookUOS from Osnabrück jointly invited visitors to the fair to take part in cooking workshops. In an interesting and enjoyable way, scientific phenomena and sustainable action were made tangible through the vehicle of cooking. In exciting cooking workshops at five parallel stations, visitors could discover with fun and enjoyment how sustainability, health and natural sciences are connected. Expert knowledge was applied practically and a relationship between knowledge and action was established. This practical reference is an essential factor in promoting design competence. Because what was experienced and learned with motivation, joy and enjoyment can later be lived on and passed on with fun and commitment.
The "DIY - Just cook!" workshops took place several times a day on all days of the fair.
There was also an exciting programme at the stand between the workshops: "Good for you - good for our planet. The big sustainability quiz" and alternating live front cooking interludes. There was something to win in the quiz and something to try in the live front cooking!
We would like to express our sincere thanks to the generous supporters of this year's IdeenExpo appearance, the Rut-und-Klaus-Bahlsen Foundation and Barilla Germany. The same goes for all the staff at the stand, who made this great presentation possible in the first place.

"Dessert Island
Homemade ice cream with lots of fresh fruit and cake with delicious roasted walnuts. That's what you can make here. The ice cream is for dessert, but unfortunately not the cake in a jar. It's to take home for your siblings and parents.

"Colourful Pasta Island"
Pasta is delicious! But pasta with lots of colourful ingredients is even tastier! Okay, no sooner said than done. You can find out more about it on this island, according to the secret formulas PPP, RPP, MPP, KPP and TPP. You'll find the solution when you cook. And you can also take a mega-cool photo for Insta of the most delicious and hottest pasta in the world!

"Mini Pizza Island"
Always just Pizza Margherita? How boring. On this island we pimp pizza with many different ingredients. We even make the yeast dough ourselves. Then it's off to the oven in our big show kitchen to bake. On your plate faster than any delivery service! Fast but Better!

"Future Island"
The future is(is) plant-based, at least mainly, because plants consume significantly fewer resources in cultivation and production than animals. Plant protein sources such as pulses will become increasingly important in the future to supply the growing population of the world with vital protein. At this station, we will taste what this tastes like.

"Science Island"
We examine our food and discover that there is pure physics and chemistry in food! We also discover that chemistry can taste pretty good. Which buddies help with fermentation, who are the frothers and what makes a perfectly cooked noodle? Under the microscope you'll find out the answers 😊!

"Good for you - good for our planet. The big quiz"
Have fun with the big quiz where you can test your knowledge about cooking, food and nutrition in groups against each other. It's worth taking part, because there is something to win! By the way, we'll also be cooking live in our big show kitchen and you're welcome to taste the food, of course. Just win!
